Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) today announced the promotion of Joe Costello to chief financial officer.
Costello had been DART’s senior vice president of finance since 2014, and previously served as executive director and CFO of the Regional Transportation Authority of Northeastern Illinois.
In his new role, Costello will be responsible for the agency’s strategic and financial planning, budgeting, debt financing, treasury, funds management, revenue administration and collection, grants management, accounting and risk management, DART officials said in a press release.
He also chairs the Transit Finance Learning Exchange and is a reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Award program.
Meanwhile, DART's board earlier this week approved a resolution to extend its on-demand, site-specific shuttle service between the Amazon fulfillment center in southern Dallas and DART’s Blue Line light-rail stations at the University of North Texas at Dallas and Camp Wisdom.
DART signed a one-year extension contract with Amazon to continue to provide Amazon employees with shuttle service that coincides with the fulfillment center’s shift times. The new contract also includes extended weekend and holiday services.
