The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority recently re-elected Tim Sandoval as chair and Robin Carder as vice chair.

The authority is an independent transportation planning and construction agency created in 1998 to oversee the planning, design and construction of the Metro Gold light-rail line from Los Angeles Union Station to Montclair along the foothills of California's San Gabriel Valley.

Sandoval is mayor of Pomona, California. He previously led Pomona Valley Community Development Center’s youth programs and was a founding member of mentoring organization Bright Prospect. Carder is a city council member in La Verne, California.

Their first year as leaders of the nine-member board culminated with the Oct. 4 signing of a design-build contract with joint venture team Kiewit-Parsons, authority officials said in a press release.

The extension will add new stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont and Montclair. The Glendora-to-Pomona segment is anticipated to be completed in 2025, and the entire project to Montclair is slated for completion by 2028.

Meanwhile, Trinity Metro’s board has named Jeff Davis chair; Tito Rodriguez, vice chair; and Ray Taylor, secretary. They will hold those posts in fiscal-year 2020.

Davis is chairman of the Fort Worth Division of Republic. A member of Trinity Metro’s 11-member board since 2013, he previously was president of Safeco Title for 16 years.

Appointed to Trinity Metro’s board in 2015, Rodriguez serves on North Richland Hills City Council, where he at one was mayor pro tem. Taylor has served on Trinity Metro’s board since 2017.

Trinity Metro operates the 34-mile Trinity Railway Express commuter-rail line with Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and owns and operates the 27-mile TEXRail commuter-rail line between downtown Fort Worth and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
