The Los Angeles–San Diego–San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) rail corridor agency named Donna DeMartino managing director to succeed Jennifer Bergener, who was appointed deputy chief executive officer of the Orange County Transportation Authority.
Effective Jan. 27, DeMartino will lead efforts to improve passenger-rail ridership, reliability and safety along the corridor, as well as oversee management and operations of the Amtrak-operated Pacific Surfliner service.
Previously, DeMartino served as CEO of the San Joaquin Regional Transit District and as a member of the Sacramento Regional Transit’s light-rail startup and operations team, LOSSAN officials said in a press release.
The 351-mile LOSSAN rail corridor covers a six-county coastal region in Southern California and is the second busiest intercity passenger rail corridor in the United States. The Pacific Surfliner is the busiest state-supported Amtrak route in the country.
