GoTriangle’s board on Wednesday named Charles Lattuca president and chief executive officer of the transit agency, which serves North Carolina's research triangle.

Lattuca will start his new role in mid-April, GoTriangle officials said in a press release.

Shelley Blake Curran, GoTriangle’s general counsel, has served as interim president and CEO since August 2019, following the departure of former President and CEO Jeff Mann in July 2019.

Previously, Lattuca was executive director of transit development and delivery for the Maryland Department of Transportation, where he led a $5.6 billion project to build a 16.2-mile light-rail system in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., area by 2023.

Lattuca also has served as the rapid transit system development manager of the Montgomery County Department of Transportation in Maryland; assistant director of state operations for the New York governor; and a legislative analyst in the New York State Assembly minority leader's office.

GoTriangle is a regional transit agency in North Carolina with routes connecting points in Wake, Durham and Orange counties. The agency is studying the feasibility for a 37-mile commuter-rail project between Wake and Durham counties.
