Yesterday, Norfolk Southern Corp. shareholders approved the appointment of KPMG L.L.P. as company auditors and re-elected four board members at the Class I's annual stockholders meeting in St. Louis.

The members are: Alston Correll, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Georgia-Pacific Corp.; Landon Hilliard, a partner in banking firm Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.; Burton Joyce, chairman of IPSCO; and Jane Margaret O'Brien, president of St. Mary's College of Maryland.

The railroad's service performance is driving business growth and increasing shareholder value, NS Chairman, President and CEO David Goode told attendees.

"We are seeing a resurgence of 'Thoroughbred' performance at a time
when markets are creating growth opportunities for us," he said.
