Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra yesterday announced five reappointments to leadership positions at VIA Rail Canada.

Francoise Bertrand was reappointed chairperson of the board for an 18-month term, while Naella-Kathy Baig, Jonathan Franklin Goldbloom, H. Glenn Rainbird and Gail Louise Stephens were reappointed as board directors. Rainbird will serve for two years, Baig for three years and Goldbloom and Stephens for four years.

The appointees come from diverse backgrounds and have a wide array of knowledge and expertise to help them in their positions, Transport Canada officials said in a press release.

"These appointments will ensure continued good governance in our transportation sector,” said Alghabra.
