Livonia, Avon & Lakeville Railroads (LA&L) has selected Robert Babcock as the company's president and CEO, effective Sept. 26.
Babcock has more than 30 years of industry experience in operations, sales, marketing, fiscal management, logistics and equipment, LA&L officials said in a press release. He will work to advance the company's safety- and service-focused culture, they added.
LA&L operates the Livonia, Avon & Lakeville Railroad, Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad and B&H Rail Corp.
Most recently, Babcock was general manager, vice president and senior vice president of The Indiana Rail Road Co., where he was responsible for train operations, car and locomotive repair, systems safety and training, customer service, engineering and intermodal marketing and operations. Before that, he held leadership roles at CSX and BNSF Railway Co.
"Robert is a well-respected leader in the rail industry, with in-depth knowledge of practically every facet of the business. He has both operational and commercial experience, and a long record of positive results, which makes him the ideal person to lead the next stage of our company’s growth," said LA&L Chair Nancy Bailey.
