The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority's board yesterday voted to confirm Collie Greenwood as the agency's next general manager and CEO.
MARTA's board named Greenwood interim GM and CEO in January after the death of former MARTA leader Jeffrey Parker. A nationwide executive search identified 11 candidates, but the board concluded Greenwood was the best fit, MARTA officials said in a press release.
"I love transit and have known since my days of driving a bus how vital it is to people and their communities," Greenwood said.
Greenwood began his career in transit as a bus operator with the Toronto Transit Commission and moved up through the ranks until he was named chief service officer 30 years later. He joined MARTA in July 2019 as the chief of bus operations and urban planning; in January 2021, he was named the deputy GM of operations. In that role, Greenwood oversaw all rail and bus operations and helped develop and deliver major capital projects, including the procurement of new rail cars and the addition of electric buses.
