The Indiana Rail Road Co. (INRD) announced that Vice President Engineering Peter Ray retired from the company Dec. 31, 2022.

Ray joined INRD in 2006 as general manager of engineering and in 2009 was promoted to VP. He’s credited with leading the completion of the $20 million track construction and capacity project to serve Bear Run Mine in Carlisle, Indiana, and the rebuilding of 43 bridges, INRD officials said in a press release.

Before working for INRD, Ray held track maintenance roles at the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad; Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway; and Chicago and North Western Railroad. He also worked for CSX’s engineering department.

“[Ray’s] contributions have shaped the long-term future of our franchise and will be felt by INRD railroaders long after we’ve all retired,” said President and CEO Dewayne Swindall.
