Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) has promoted Meghan Clemens to the position of director of external affairs, according to a news release.

Clemens joined ARRC in 2013 as marketing and communications manager, a role that involved strategic marketing, customer engagement and media relations for passenger services. As director of external affairs, Clemens will oversee ARRC’s direct engagement and communication with Alaska’s rail-belt communities, the public and other stakeholders.

“[Meghan's] extensive experience in marketing and communications matched with her excellent customer services skills and outstanding work performance makes her the logical choice for director of external affairs. Her already strong relationships and well-developed communication channels across the state will ensure a smooth transition into her new position," President and CEO Bill O’Leary said in the release.

Clemens moves into the position on Aug. 7. She succeeds Christy Terry, who will take the helm of vice president of real estate.
