Hamann named to Steel Dynamics' board

Jennifer Hamann, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Union Pacific Railroad, has been appointed to Steel Dynamics Inc.’s board.

Hamann will serve as an independent director and participate as a member of Steel Dynamic’s audit committee, according to a press release. Her appointment is for a one-year term ending in May 2024.

UP’s EVP and CFO since 2020, Hamann joined the Class I 30 years ago. Her previous positions include senior VP of finance and VP of planning and analysis. She has filled leadership roles in capital planning and analysis, debt and equity capital markets, marketing and sales, investor relations, audit, human resources and corporate strategy.

She also has extensive knowledge of business and regulations within Mexico based on her participation on multiple Union Pacific Mexican joint venture boards, UP officials said.

Steel Dynamics is one of the largest domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States, and produces steel rail.
