The Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority's (ACTA) governing board appointed Graham Christie, a Southern California rail leader and seasoned project manager, as chief operating officer. A study of ACTA’s leadership structure recently determined the need for a COO to oversee certain critical functions of the intergovernmental agency that is responsible for the operation of a rail route serving the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, ACTA officials said in a press release. Christie has more than 30 years of experience and leadership in the rail industry, particularly in California. He joins ACTA after a 10-year career at HTNB and previously worked at RailPros Inc. and AECOM. An engineer, he has served as a project manager for more than 100 rail projects and programs.

Union Pacific Corp. (UP) announced the appointment of John Tien to its board. Tien most recently served as deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the first Asian American to hold the position, from 2021 until his retirement in July 2023. Tien’s leadership roles date back to when he joined the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he served as first captain and brigade commander. He served three combat tours in Iraq and received the Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, the Combat Action Badge and the Valorous Unit Award. Tien later served as National Security Council (NSC) director for Iraq counterinsurgency operations in the Bush administration and as the NSC Senior Director for Afghanistan and Pakistan in the Obama administration. He then spent 10 years in senior executive roles at Citigroup.

The National Mediation Board (NMB) named Anthony Tosi and Gerry McGuckin supervisory mediators. Tosi joined the NMB in March 2005 and McGuckin joined in September 2007, both as mediators. During their tenures, they've served the board in airline and railroad cases, including grievance mediation. Prior to joining the NMB, both completed careers as commercial pilots flying for several airlines.
