The North County Transit District (NCTD) in California has appointed Maria Rogers director of rail operations.

In her new role, Rogers will work with the Federal Railroad Administration, the California Public Utilities Commission and NCTD’S partners at Amtrak, BNSF Railway Co. and Metrolink, NCTD officials said in a press release. NCTD is the owner and railroad of record for the San Diego Subdivision of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor.

Her additional responsibilities include oversight of the operational teams and performance metrics of the Coaster commuter-rail and Sprinter hybrid rail services.

Rogers has served NCTD since 2014, most recently as manager of rail operations.

“As a woman in leadership — and being with NCTD for nearly 10 years — it has been an honor to work directly with other professionals who have greatly contributed to the skills I have and use daily," said Rogers. "I look forward to continuing to share a work ethic that creates a fulfilling, productive and safe workplace.”
