Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Rail Equipment Manager Casey Blaze has been elected to a two-year term as secretary of the American Public Transportation Association's Light Rail Forum. Blaze will serve a two-year term ending in 2026. The forum provides a platform for the study and discussion of technical and operational issues in light-rail transit systems and advances the growth and public acceptance of light rail. 

RailPros has hired George Gorrill as national discipline manager of bridges and structures. Gorrill has over 25 years of engineering experience, including 20 years in the Chicago area. He will report to Chief Engineer Bob Matthew. Gorrill will be based in the company's Chicago office and oversee projects nationwide.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has appointed Tim Lindholm chief program management officer. He will focus on delivering the largest transportation infrastructure program in the nation, a $28 billion program of 75 active rail, bus and highway transportation projects, according to an L.A. Metro press release. Lindholm is a senior executive with nearly 24 years at L.A. Metro.

The Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) announced MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. Executive Vice President Allen Clifford will be presented with the 2024 Connie Award and Georgia Ports Authority adviser Cliff Pyron will receive CII’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards will be presented Dec. 9 at an industry-wide luncheon at the Marriott Newark Liberty Airport Hotel. The Connie Award recognizes industry professionals who have made major contributions to the advancement of containerization and intermodalism through entrepreneurship and leadership. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to organizations or individuals who have played a substantial and supportive role in the industry or CII.
