APTA elects executive committee

Yesterday, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) announced the elected members of its 2011-2012 executive committee and board as voted by APTA members at an annual meeting earlier this week.
Gary Thomas, president and executive director of Dallas Area Rapid Transit, was elected chairman to succeed Michael Scanlon, general manager and chief executive officer of the San Mateo County Transit district and executive director of the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board.
Flora Castillo, a New Jersey Transit board member, was elected vice president. Nathaniel Ford Sr., principal of Ford Management Group, will remain secretary-treasurer for another term.
The 106-member board will convene Oct. 1 in New Orleans, prior to the start of the 2011 APTA Annual Meeting and Expo.
