The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) announced today it has hired John Henry to serve as chief financial officer.

Henry will oversee APTA's finance and information technology departments, APTA officials said in a press release.

"[Henry's] wide-ranging experience and expertise in finance in both the public and private sector will serve APTA and its members well and we are excited to have him join the APTA team," said President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Skoutelas.

Most recently, Henry served as CFO of the Jefferson County Commission in Jefferson County, Alabama, where he was responsible for general accounting, budget management, purchasing, revenue and economic and workforce development. The Birmingham Business Journal recently recognized him as CFO of the Year.

Prior to joining Jefferson County, Henry served as associate treasurer for asset management in the District of Columbia's Office of Finance and Treasury, where he managed the district's investment programs.
