The Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) recently presented its annual Gold Spike Awards to 25 of the railroad’s employees.

Winners of the company’s highest honor are in the transportation, marketing, mechanical, maintenance-of-way, human resources, real estate and finance divisions. Ten winners are stationed at the railroad’s north end in Fairbanks, and 15 are in the south-central regions of Anchorage and Whittier/Portage.

Gold Spikes are presented to employees “who clearly stand out for above-and-beyond demonstration” of the railroad’s values: safety, service excellence, integrity, sustainability, teamwork and leadership, ARRC officials said in a press release.

"Employees all along our route took time to nominate coworkers who deserve our highest honors," said ARRC President and CEO Bill O’Leary, who makes final award decisions. "Railroaders on the front lines are in the best position to know who is going the extra mile. Their efforts keep our recognition program going strong."

Award winners' names can be viewed here.
