On Tuesday, Amtrak announced Jeffrey Geary has been named vice president of operations, effective June 20.
Geary, who has more than 30 years of rail industry experience, will oversee Amtrak’s transportation, engineering and mechanical departments, Amtrak officials said in a prepared statement. Most recently, he served as vice president and chief operating officer of Florida East Coast Railway and Highway Trucking Services. He also served stints at Conrail, CSX Transportation, Rail Link and RailAmerica Inc.
Geary’s duties will be “fundamental to the delivery of service, including the train crews, locomotives and other train equipment, and the Amtrak-owned infrastructure on the Northeast Corridor and elsewhere in the country,” Amtrak said.
