The Arizona Railroad Group (ARG) recently promoted Scott Parkinson from vice president and general manager to president and chief executive officer. David Parkinson, Scott's father who founded ARG in 2003, will continue to serve as chairman and director.

A certified locomotive engineer, Scott Parkinson joined ARG in August 2005. He previously held executive positions for commercial aviation businesses in New Mexico and Oregon.

David Parkinson previously founded the Arizona & California, California Northern, and Puget Sound & Pacific railroads, which were purchased by RailAmerica Inc.

ARG is an Arizona-based railroad investment company and owner of the San Pedro & Southwestern Railroad, which recently opened a rail-to-truck transload facility in Benson, Ariz.
