Burlington Northern Santa Fe recently promoted Assistant Vice Presidents Steve Goodall, Mark Kotter and Chris Roberts to regional vice presidents of north operations, central operations and south operations, respectively. They will report to VP of Transportation Dave Dealy.

Since joining BNSF in 1980 as an engineering technician, Goodall has served in various positions, including roadmaster, assistant division engineer, and general director of field operations. He also previously served as AVP of performance and support, and AVP of line maintenance-south before becoming AVP of north operations earlier this year.

During his 30-year BNSF career, Kotter has served as assistant superintendent and superintendent for taconite ore dock operations, trainmaster, superintendent of operations and division superintendent. He also previously served as AVP of coal operations and AVP of north operations before being named AVP of central operations last year.

Since joining BNSF in 1975 as a switchman/brakeman, Roberts has served as engine foreman, yardmaster, power distributor, assistant trainmaster, trainmaster and general director of locomotive utilization. He also previously served as AVP of transportation before becoming AVP of south operations in 1997.

Meanwhile, BNSF also promoted John Hickerson to VP of domestic intermodal and Fred Malesa, to VP of international intermodal. Both will report to Group VP, Consumer Products Steve Branscum.

Hickerson joined BNSF in January as AVP of truckload marketing. He previously served as president of Roadway Next Day Corp., and president and chief executive officer of Con-Way Southern Express.

Malesa most recently served as AVP of supply chain. Since joining BNSF in 1993 as an account leader, he has served as AVP of international marketing, director of field marketing, general director of field sales, and general director of equipment and systems support. Malesa previously served Union Pacific Railroad for 10 years, lastly as AVP of bulk commodities.
