The Federal Reserve Board of Governors has appointed BNSF Railway Co. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Matt Rose to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' board.

He will serve a three-year term starting Jan. 1. As a board member, Rose will provide input on regional and national economic issues.

BNSF's CEO since December 2000, Rose will become executive chairman on Jan. 1, when President and Chief Operating Officer Carl Ice becomes CEO. Since joining the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1993, Rose has served BNSF as president and COO, senior vice president of the merchandise business unit and vice president of chemicals.

"Matt Rose is one of the most respected businessmen in the nation," said Richard Fisher, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, in a prepared statement.
