The Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) yesterday announced the election of Michael Baldwin as the labor organization's new president following the retirement of Jerry Boles.

Baldwin most recently served as BRS's secretary-treasurer, and was appointed a Grand Lodge representative in 2010 and director of research in 2011. He served as vice president West from 2015 until his election as secretary-treasurer in 2019, BRS officials said in a press release.

BRS general chairmen and the Grand Executive Council also elected James Finnegan as secretary-treasurer; Timothy Tarrant as VP of commuter/passenger; R. Quinn Norman as VP of headquarters; and Michael Sullivan as a member of the Grand Board of Trustees.

Boles was elected president on Jan. 15, 2019. After joining the union’s management ranks in August 1997, he served stints as VP of headquarters and secretary-treasurer. Boles began his railroading career in 1977 with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad.
