Bi-State Development, operator of the St. Louis MetroLink light-rail system, has named Gregory Smith vice president of procurement and materials management.

Smith will provide strategic direction for procurement, materials management and supplier diversity functions, including sourcing, contract management, supply chain  management, and compliance with state and federal laws.

Before joining Bi-State Development, Smith served as director of the St. Louis Regional Chamber's logistics sector. He also worked as director of purchasing, strategic sourcing and supplier development for Olin Corp.

"Greg will continue to uphold Bi-State Development’s high standards for a fair, transparent procurement process that maximizes the return of the investment for the region," said Bi-State Development President and Chief Executive Officer John Nations in a press release.

Larry Jackson previously served as Bi-State Development's VP of procurement and materials management. In 2016, Jackson accepted a new role as executive VP of administration but continued to lead the procurement team during the search for his replacement.
