Last week, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) announced it had appointed Andy Byford chief operating officer, effective in November.

For the past two years, Byford has served as COO of Australia’s RailCorp, which provides passenger-rail service in New South Wales. He previously held posts as operations and safety director for the United Kingdom’s South Eastern Trains and general manager for London Underground.

In his new position, Byford will oversee TTC operations and act as the agency’s deputy chief general manager.
