Yesterday, Canadian Pacific Railway announced it appointed Fred Green executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Most recently EVP of operations and marketing, Green will be responsible for the railway's operations, including CPR's Integrated Operating Plan, overall train productivity and safety, track network and rail equipment, and marketing and sales within the bulk, merchandise, intermodal and logistics groups.

Since joining CPR in 1978, Green has served in various senior management positions in operations and marketing.

"Fred is an outstanding innovator who has developed products and services that differentiate CPR in the marketplace, while relentlessly pursuing improved productivity, efficiency and safety across our system," said CPR President and Chief Executive Officer Rob Ritchie in a prepared statement.

CPR also announced that Jacques Lamarre resigned from its board. President and CEO of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc., Lamarre joined the board in October 2001 after Canadian Pacific Ltd. spun off its subsidiaries.
