Canadian Pacific Railway recently named Fred Green executive vice-president of operations and marketing. The promotion is related to EVP and Chief Operating Officer Ed Dodge's plan to retire from the railroad in March, ending his 35-year CPR career.

Green will be responsible for train operations, maintenance of way, productivity and safety, as well as marketing and sales functions for CPR's bulk, merchandise, intermodal and logistics groups.

Since joining CPR in 1978, he has served in various senior management operations and marketing positions, most recently as senior vice president of marketing and sales.

"Fred has clearly shown his capacity for developing innovative products and services, and for building and motivating high-performance, results-oriented teams," said CPR President and Chief Executive Officer Rob Ritchie in a prepared statement.
