Rail News: Railroading People
On Friday, CSX Technology announced President Charles "Chuck" Wodehouse Jr. will retire Dec. 31, ending his nearly 26-year CSX Corp. career.
"During his tenure, Chuck led us through the technology challenges of many major events — the Conrail integration, followed immediately by Y2K, and a multi-year upgrade of most of our computing and telecommunications infrastructure," said CSX Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Ward in a prepared statement.
CSX Technology named John West to succeed Wodehouse. West most recently served the company as vice president-applications development for Cybernetics & Services Inc. He will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Oscar Munoz.
West joined CSX in 1979 as a trackman/welder on the B&O Railroad. He later served as a signal maintainer and director of information technology for Sea-Land Corp. before becoming VP-applications development in 1998.
"[West] has built strong relationships across CSX companies and delivers on his promises," said Munoz.
