Doug Carr has been named president and CEO of Union Station Redevelopment Corp. (USRC), which oversees the preservation and restoration of Washington Union Station in the District of Columbia.
Carr joins USRC from Moynihan Station Development Corp., where he led teams that transformed the James A. Farley Post Office Building into Moynihan Train Hall in New York City. Prior to that, Carr spent nearly 15 years with Jones Lang LaSalle heading up advisory services for clients that included the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the World Trade Center Redevelopment, MTA/Hudson Yards, California High Speed Rail Authority and U.S. Army and Air Force.
"Washington Union Station is a historic transportation hub poised for even greater growth. [Carr] will ensure the station best serves the D.C. community while advancing the next century of transportation progress," said U.S. Department of Transportation Deputy Secretary Polly Trottenberg in a press release. Trottenberg chairs the USRC board.
In his new role, Carr succeeds Beverly Swaim-Staley, who has led the USRC since 2012.
USRC was established in 1983 by U.S. Transportation Secretary Elizabeth Dole following the passage of the Union Station Redevelopment Act. Washington Union Station is owned by the USDOT.
