Union Pacific Corp.'s top office now is managed by a three-man team. On Jan. 30, the company named Ike Evans vice chairman of the corporation and Union Pacific Railroad, and James Young, president of the railroad to succeed Evans. Young and Evans will join Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dick Davidson as members of a newly created Office of the Chairman.

"This formalizes a strong working relationship that has been in place for some time," said Davidson in a prepared statement. "Ike, Jim and I are a team whose skills complement each other very well, and we share an enthusiasm about this company and the opportunities before us."

UP also named Robert Knight Jr. executive vice president and chief financial officer to succeed Young.

Evans has served as the railroad's president and chief operating officer since joining UP in September 1998. He previously served Emerson Electric as senior vice president.

Young began his UP career in 1978, serving in the finance department. He was named EVP and CFO in December 1999.

A 23-year UP veteran, Knight has served in a number of finance, human resources, executive, and marketing and sales positions. He most recently served as senior vice president-finance.

Davidson has served as chairman and CEO since January 1997. After joining UP in 1960 as a brakeman/conductor, he served in a number of positions, including executive vice president of operations and president of the railroad.
