Chicago's Belt Railway appoints Paras GM of transportation

The Belt Railway Co. of Chicago (BRC) recently named Michael Paras general manager of transportation.

He most recently served as general manager of safety initiatives for Union Pacific Railroad. Paras previously served UP and Southern Pacific Railroad in various operating capacities.

Founded in 1882, BRC is owned by Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Canadian National Railway Co., Canadian Pacific Railway, CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern Railway and UP. The intermediate switching terminal railroad owns and operates 28 miles of mainline and more than 300 miles of switching tracks, and connects with all railroads serving Chicago.
