Yesterday, Providence and Worcester Railroad Co. (PWRR) announced it appointed Vice President of Engineering Scott Conti to succeed the late Orville Harrold as president. The 545-mile regional’s president since 1980, Harrold died Nov. 22. He was 73.
After joining PWRR in 1988, Conti served as engineering manager and chief engineer before being named VP of engineering in 1999. He previously served as an engineer for Perini Corp.
“Those of us who worked with Orville will always value his insight, his example and his contributions to the company,” said PWRR Chairman Robert Eder, who served as interim president after Harrold’s death, in a prepared statement. “We look forward to working with Scott as he assumes Orville’s duties.”
PWRR also promoted Superintendent of Transportation David Fitzgerald and Director of Marketing Frank Rogers to vice presidents.
The regional moves traffic over lines in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and operates two intermodal yards in Worcester, Mass.
