advertisement
It’s official: Paul Coté is VIA Rail Canada Inc.’s new president and chief executive officer.
Yesterday, Canadian Transport Minister Jean Lapierre confirmed the appointment of Coté, who Lapierre had nominated Feb. 1. The Standing Committee on Transport subsequently reviewed the nomination, blessing it last week.
Coté most recently served as interim president and CEO, and chief operating officer of VIA Rail, a Crown corporation that operates Canada’s national passenger-rail service. He joined VIA Rail in 1978, serving in the marketing department. He later held three senior vice president positions before being named COO in 2001.
