Denton County Transportation Authority's (DCTA) board yesterday named Raymond Suarez president.

His appointment will take effect Sept. 14, pending contract negotiations, according to an agency press release.

The announcement follows news of Jim Cline's resignation as DCTA's president on Aug. 31. The agency's board yesterday accepted his resignation.

DCTA officials didn't give a reason for Cline's resignation.

Suarez has served as the agency's chief operating officer since July 2014. He has more than 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors.

Before joining DCTA, Suarez served as chief administrative officer for the Trinity Railway Express (TRE). During his tenure, Suarez managed TRE's long-range capital investment program and state-of-good-repair model.

"We greatly appreciate the leadership provided by Mr. Cline over the last eight years," said Nicole Recker, DCTA vice president of marketing and communications. "The board of directors and agency staff are confident that Mr. Suarez will continue to foster DCTA's growth and ability to provide mobility solutions throughout North Texas."
