The Public Belt Railroad Commission in early January appointed Jeffrey Davis general manager and chief executive officer of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Co. (NOPB).

Prior to his appointment on Jan. 2, Davis had served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for the South Carolina Public Railways since September 2007. His previous stints at the railways included manager of operations and regulatory affairs and supervisor of mechanical operations.

Earlier in his career, Davis was manager of labor relations and a trainmaster for CSX Transportation, and served as a consultant for Ontario Power Generation's Performance Assurance Division. He is a member of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association.

Created by the city of New Orleans in 1904, NOPB interchanges with BNSF Railway Co., CN, CSXT, Kansas City Southern, Norfolk Southern Railway and Union Pacific Railroad
