The deadline to submit nominations for The League of Railway Industry Women's (LRIW) 2012 "Outstanding Woman of the Year" award has been extended to Aug. 31.
Any woman who works in the North American rail industry — any "unsung hero" who deserves to be recognized for her service," as an LRIW official put it — is eligible to receive the award, which is co-sponsored by Progressive Railroading. Nomination forms can be downloaded here: http://lriw.org/match/node/1. Completed forms should be emailed to connie.sumara@crdx.com and doris_scanlan@cpr.ca by Aug. 31.
The winner will be recognized at LRIW's annual luncheon on Sept. 24 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. The luncheon will be held during the Railway Supply Institute Inc.’s Annual Convention and Technical Conference of the Coordinated Mechanical Committees, which will be held Sept. 23-25. LRIW luncheon tickets are $75 for LRIW members and $85 for non-members. To order tickets or obtain more information, contact Kaleigh Reyes, LRIW director at large and membership chair: kaleigh.reyes@ge.com or 904-383-3112.
