Deadline nears for LRIW's 'Outstanding Woman of the Year' nominations
It's not too late to nominate a woman in railroading for the "Outstanding Woman of the Year Award," which the League of Railway Industry Women (LRIW) will present at its annual conference to be held Oct. 4-6 in conjunction with Railway Interchange 2015 in Minneapolis.
The LRIW still is seeking nominations for the award, which is co-sponsored by Progressive Railroading. Any woman who works in the North American rail industry is eligible for consideration.
Nomination criteria are that the woman:
• consistently demonstrates vision, initiative, creativity and guidance in a leadership role within her professional railway field;
• is innovative, a problem-solver and overcomes challenges; and
• brings consistent excellence to her organization and the surrounding community.
Nominations will be accepted until July 31. Nomination forms can be downloaded from LRIW's website.
Speakers at the LRIW conference will include Operation Lifesaver Inc. President and CEO Joyce Rose, Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers Executive Director Sylvia Newell and American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association President Linda Darr. In addition, the LRIW will present the award during the Railway Interchange 2015 Monday opening general session.
