Progressive Rail Inc. (PR) recently promoted Andrea Dobbelmann to CEO. She succeeds Lon Van Gemert, who retired after leading the company since July 2019.

Dobbelmann had served as PR's chief financial officer for more than three years. She joined the company in 2017 as corporate controller.

"Andrea is all about the heavy lifting, literally and figuratively, which is precisely why she earned the CEO position at Progressive Rail," company officials said in an email to employees. "Her take on how to run a railroad in today’s world is heavily focused on our customer and team-member relations, along with enhancing industry standards to shape a far cleaner, more connected and capacity-rich incubator of commerce for centuries to come."

Prior to joining PR, Dobbelmann was a lead accountant for Thomson Reuters and senior accountant/assistant controller for Krieger Enterprises LLC. She also held several accounting positions at Target Corp.

PR owns and operates 11 short lines in California, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.
