Fasana appointed L.A. Metro chair; Whitmore named Fort Worth agency's VP of administration
John Fasana has been named chairman of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). His appointment took effect July 1.
He replaced outgoing chairman Mark Ridley-Thomas, who also serves as a Los Angeles County supervisor.
Fasana will chair his first board meeting of fiscal-year 2017 on Thursday.
"I intend to ensure that careful attention is paid to infrastructure — both building and maintaining it — so that those of us who use it today and those who use it in the future will have improved quality of life," Fasana said in a press release issued yesterday.
Fasana is a member of the city council in Duarte, Calif. He's represented the San Gabriel Valley on L.A. Metro's board since its inception in 1993 and previously served as chair from FY2001 through 2002.
In addition, Fasana currently serves as chair of the executive management committee.
Meanwhile, the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (FWTA) announced the promotion of Detra Whitmore to vice president of administration.
In the new role, she oversees the planning department, customer service and other administrative staff. She also manages the office of the board.
Whitmore, who previously served as director of administration, joined the agency in 2005.
