HNTB Corp. recently named Peter Saklas head of the engineering company’s Southeast Division Rail and Public Transportation Group, which comprises offices in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., North Carolina and South Carolina.

As senior project manager, Saklas will be responsible for managing, directing and implementing large transit projects.

Saklas previously served New Jersey Transit as assistant executive director for engineering, construction and development, and chief engineer. He has more than 30 years of experience in transit planning, engineering, capital program development, program implementation and economic development.

Saklas has worked on projects involving rail yards, line extensions, stations, and park and ride, maintenance and historic facilities.
