U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx has asked Federal Transit Administrator Peter Rogoff to serve as the U.S. Department of Transportation's (USDOT) acting under secretary for policy.

If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Rogoff will succeed Polly Trottenberg, who recently left the department to serve as transportation commissioner for New York City.

For the interim, Federal Transit Administration Deputy Administrator Therese McMillan has been named to carry on the day-to-day FTA responsibilities, according to a USDOT spokesperson.

"Therese McMillan has been an outstanding FTA Deputy Administrator and has extensive expertise and understanding of public transportation programs," said American Public Transportation Association President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Melaniphy. "We look forward to working with her in her new leadership role as acting administrator."
