GATX Corp.’s board recently elected Deborah Fretz lead director to serve as a formal liaison between independent board members and senior managers. She will chair independent directors’ executive sessions, act as ex officio member of each board committee and help establish board meeting agendas.

President and chief executive officer of Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P., Fretz joined GATX’s board in 1993. She has chaired the audit committee the past six years. GATX named retired Sara Lee Corp. Vice Chairman and Chief Administrative Officer Michael Murphy audit committee chair to succeed Fretz.

GATX subsidiary GATX Rail leases locomotives and rail cars to North American Class Is, regionals and short lines. The unit manages a fleet of more than 152,000 cars.
