The government of Quebec recently appointed Joel Gauthier to serve a second four-year term as president and chief executive officer of the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT).

A member of the Quebec Bar, Gauthier specializes in transportation and construction law. He also is a member of the International Association of Public Transport’s Regional and Suburban Railway committee. In 2006, Gauthier was elected to serve a three-year term as a Canadian representative on the American Public Transportation Association board.

AMT operates commuter-rail and bus systems in the Montreal region.
