Geale takes seat as National Mediation Board member
The National Mediation Board (NMB) last week announced that Nicholas Christopher Geale was confirmed by the Senate to serve as the third member of the board for a term that expires on July 1, 2016. He fills a seat that was vacated by Elizabeth Dougherty when she resigned from the NMB in June 2012.
Geale is director of oversight and investigations for Ranking Member Lamar Alexander on the U. S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. He previously was an oversight and investigations counsel on the committee for two years for Ranking Member Michael Enzi.
Geale also served stints as an attorney/advisor to the counselor of the deputy secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor under Secretary Elaine Chao, and assistant general counsel for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
The NMB also announced that Chairman Linda Puchala was re-confirmed for a term expiring July 1, 2015, and Member Harry Hoglander was re-confirmed for a term expiring July 1, 2014.
Established by the Railway Labor Act, the NMB governs labor-management relations in the rail and airline industries.
