Yesterday, Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) announced it appointed David Powell vice president of motive power and James Tilley, VP of car management. Both will report to Chief Operating Officer James Benz.
Powell most recently served as managing director of railroad management firm and investment consultant UniRail L.L.C. He previously held senior mechanical department positions with Chilean railroad Ferrocarrill del Pacifico S.A., Argentinean road Nuevo Central Argentino, and U.S. roads Delaware & Hudson and New York Susquehanna & Western, and served a stint as VP of National Railway Equipment Co.
Most recently VP of sales and marketing with Bombardier Capital Rail Inc., Tilley previously served as Bombardier’s director of marketing, and held various financial and marketing positions with Conrail, Union Pacific Railroad and CSX Transportation.
GWI owns and operates 47 regionals and short lines in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Bolivia, including 39 U.S. roads.
