Canadian Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities Denis Lebel recently announced Geoffrey Hare has been reappointed as a member and chairman of the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) for a three-year term, effective Feb. 12.

Prior to joining the CTA, Hare was deputy minister of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal. He previously served Ontario’s government for more than 25 years, holding senior management positions in the ministries of finance, and economic development and trade. Hare also served a number of provincial agencies, including the Ontario SuperBuild Corp. and Ontario Jobs and Investment Board.

“His extensive background in public policy, planning and development provides the agency with experienced leadership,” said Lebel in a prepared statement.

An independent administrative body of the Canadian government, the CTA serves as an economic regulator that makes determinations and issues authorities, licenses and permits to transportation carriers under federal jurisdiction. The agency also resolves a range of commercial and consumer transportation-related disputes.
