OmniTRAX Inc. has appointed Ryan Higgins chief commercial officer, effective Aug. 16. He will succeed Peter Touesnard, who plans to retire at year’s end.

Higgins has decades of railroading experience and most recently served as senior director of merchandise sales for CSX. He held various leadership posts at the Class I in sales, marketing, business development and operations.

Higgins will report to OmniTRAX Chief Executive Officer Dean Piacente and be responsible for all aspects of customer relationships and company growth.

"Ryan is a dynamic team leader who brings a deep mix of strategy, experience and consistent results to chart our continued company growth," said Piacente in a press release.

Touesnard has served on OmniTRAX’s leadership team for the past eight years. During his tenure, the company realized record growth marked by same-store carload growth 40 percent over peers and the addition of seven railroads to its roster.

"Peter's dedication and spirit of service exemplify the OmniTRAX difference, and he has served the commercial team and [our] customers extremely well," said Piacente.
