The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) has named K. N. Murthy interim executive director, effective Dec. 5.

Murthy has more than 40 years of experience in transit design and construction and has managed and implemented several multibillion-dollar rail projects in Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, Dallas/Forth Worth and Atlanta, HART officials said in a press release.

Murthy previously served as executive director for transit project delivery at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

HART's previous leader Dan Grabauskas resigned in August.
