The Intermodal Association of North America’s (IANA) board recently elected Dave Manning chairman for 2012 to succeed Steve Rubin. A longtime IANA member and former chairman of the ATA Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference, Manning is president of Tennessee Express Inc. He served as vice chairman in 2011.

The board also elected Barry Michaels as vice chairman and Jenny Johnson as treasurer for 2012. Michaels is vice president of intermodal operations for Union Pacific Railroad, chairs IANA’s Operations Committee, serves on the Intermodal Interchange Executive Committee and is the 2011 winner of the association’s Silver Kingpin Award. Johnson is vice president of Intermodal Support Services Inc. and chairs IANA’s Scholarship Committee.

Meanwhile, the Port of Seattle Commission elected Commissioner Gael Tarleton as president, Commissioner John Creighton as vice president and Commissioner Tom Albro as secretary for 2012. Tarleton and Commissioner Bill Bryant also were sworn in for second terms.

Tarleton, who was first elected to the commission’s board in 2007, is the third woman to serve as a commissioner in the Port of Seattle’s 100-year history. She works part time as a research adviser at the University of Washington, where she has held several positions since 2004.

Creighton has served on the commission since 2006. A lawyer, he previously worked on complex international transactions in the port cities of Singapore, Helsinki and Istanbul. Albro, who joined the commission in 2010, previously founded several businesses in the construction, transportation and health care administration industries.
