Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) President and Chief Executive Officer Joni Casey has been honored with a lifetime achievement award from the Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII).

Casey received the honor during the Connie Award Luncheon at the Newark Club in Newark, N.J., earlier this week. The award acknowledges an individual's long-term career commitment to the logistics industry.

Casey began her career as an economist with the American Trucking Associations (ATA). She expanded ATA's multimodal presence, becoming the first executive director of its intermodal conference. Prior to being named president and CEO of IANA, she served as president and CEO of the Transportation Intermediaries Association.

"Joni Casey's dedication has created a long-lasting, positive impact on the intermodal industry and ultimately benefits American commerce. We are grateful for her continued service," said CII President Michael DiVirgilio in a press release. "CII is proud to present this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award to Ms. Casey, who has devoted so much of her career to improving our industry."

Casey also has served on industry committees and boards, including the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board; the University of Denver’s Intermodal Transportation Institute; the Global Maritime and Transportation School of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; the Board of Advisors of the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland; and the Business Advisory Committee of Northwestern University.
