In memoriam: Theodore Haas

PTSI Transportation on April 12 announced the recent death of Theodore Haas, the company's senior adviser and former administrative manager.
Born in 1922, Haas began his career working for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He worked his way through the ranks of that road and successors Penn Central and Conrail to become director of passenger rates and tariffs. He later served as PTSI Transportation's administrative manager, running the Rosemont, Pennsylvania, office.
In addition, Haas taught economics at the University of Pennsylvania, according to an obituary from PTSI.
Haas was instrumental in developing Burlington Northern Railroad commuter tariffs, and advised on fares and fare structures, PTSI officials said.
For many years, Haas lived in Haverford, Pennsylvania, and was active in promoting travel by passenger rail.
Haas is survived by his wife Edwina, two sons and a daughter. A celebration of Haas' life will be held in the future. For more information contact PTSI Managing Director Michael Weinman, mrw@ptsitransportation.com.
